September 20, 2011 I've finally settled into my new job, and I can't help thinking something is missing. Hopefully I can find a saxophone quartet or cover band so I can make music with friends again. July 26, 2011 The end of summer is here, and that means marching band season is in high gear. I've had a great time writing some field shows as well as working a band camp and teaching summer lessons. April 20, 2011 Now that junior high contest season is over, I get to loosen up and teach a few "fun" topics. Naturally, that means I'm in the library finding some good sources on jazz history. April 2, 2011 My MM recital went very well! Thanks to everyone who came, and for those of you who didn't make it, you can contact me for a recording. January 11, 2011 I traveled to the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium last week, where I was able to hear a number of wonderful performers and new compositions. In particular, I enjoyed Branford Marsalis' performance of the Tallahatchee Concerto and the piece Crazy Logic for saxophone and piano by Matthew Orlovich. I also purchased a Rovner Star saxophone ligature and a Legere 3 1/4 reed to try on baritone saxophone. The combination is very responsive and the sound quality is probably good enough. If I don't do any solo playing on bari, I may not be buying cane reeds for quite a while! December 14, 2010 The Pleasant High School Christmas concert last night was lovely! I'm glad the weather finally cooperated (kind of ) and students got a chance to show off all their hard work. December 9, 2010 I am finally done with my first quarter at OSU! Finals went well, and I am looking forward to starting work on my recital pieces. August 24, 2010 I've relocated to Marion, Ohio, and it's quite nice here. It's only an hour from Columbus, and the community has just about everything! The Harding memorial is quite beautiful at night. May 17, 2010 I am proud to finally be a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign! I look forward to a summer of working with young children and writing marching band drill on the side. April 29, 2010 My presentation went very well last night. If you'd like to see my slides, I've put them here. |
